November 16, 2022 - Entry 1006: Reset/Restart

I haven’t written anything in a while, and I have to admit I saw this coming. Turns out writing consistently is a tough habit to get into, and an easy habit to drop. Not writing is substantially easier than writing, and it has a momentum, or lack thereof, that is difficult to escape.

I also find myself having difficulty coming up with things to write about, which obviously doesn’t support consistent content production. I had planned to draw inspiration from my work, but so far the inspiration has been inconsistent and fleeting. The idea of a weekly blog post also seemed more achievable when I was comfortably unemployed.

To reverse my recent momentum and get back to writing consistently, I’m going to pivot and take a more structured approach. Instead of writing about random topics as inspiration strikes, I will be starting a multi-part series entitled “How to Start a Business” or something delightfully generic and unimaginative like that – stay tuned. This way, I can plan ahead and start drafting my blog posts in advance. I’ll still write random blog posts as inspiration strikes, but I believe the structure of a multi-part series will help keep me writing consistently.

It seems like now is the perfect time to change things because, as far as I know, it’s just my mom that reads this blog. Since nobody is reading, nobody will notice the change in direction. By the time people start reading, we’ll be long past the pivot and maybe this false start will be quietly swept under the rug.

I hope that this will be a fresh start – a carte blanche. It’d be a damn shame to start a whole blog only to write four mediocre posts. I’d like to continue writing this blog for a long time so hopefully this is a new beginning for the startup guidebook.
